Countrymen, our's is truly a nation of strange ironies, how can a people who are often too scared to fight against corruption, against oppression and against poverty be so brave to scoop and fetch fuel from Hell; Jesse on my mind, a small town in Delta State (where over 1000 people were burnt to death about a decade ago whilst scooping fuel from a broken pipeline), besetting the carapace of my mind also is today's Port Harcourt tragedy where over a 100 citizens have been burnt to ashes whilst scooping fuel from a broken tanker, ALJAZEERA blames it on poverty, some say it is outright madness; whichever position you take, methinks that if poverty has made our people daringly senseless, insane, profane and mundane, why cant we address this bravado at a rulership that has brought us untold hardship and poverty, like Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and presently Syria, why cant we choose to die nobly and not ignobly as fuel scoopes and thieves. Why cant we fight poverty and die as martyrs, WHY? If we can dare death for a gallon of fuel WHY cant we dare it to salvage our CHIlDREN and POSTERITY from the abyss of poverty, of Golgotha and of senseless death. May GOD help us. Was she on a leave of absence from her Ministry the past 13years that she has been with GEJ as Deputy Governor's Wife, Bayelsa First Lady, Vice President's Wife and now the First Lady? I really dont see the logic in yesterday's appointment of Dame Patience Jonathan as a Permanent Secretary, curiously GEJ 'does not give a damn'. Yes, we live in a theatre of sickening absurdities, this wasteful 'demon-crazy' stinks. The rumour that made the rounds today about the Bombing of the NYSC Camp in Bauchi was to many a mere rumour and to some one mischief too far BUT no so, to me it underscores how cheap life has become in this clime; to herald in droves albeit falsely and to liberally rebroadcast the Bombing to early grave of 56 Corpers without verifying same tells a lot; it tells the discerning that Death in turns, tonnes and hundreds do not scare us no more; it tells the wise to be weary; it tells well-meaning Nigerians and Patriots to rise to the salvage and rescue this nation from Golgotha; it tells all goodmen to begin a collective watch so this nation does not slide down the precipice; And it tells us that the TIME for NATIONAL redemption is NOW.
